Politically Aware or Active ?

Living in India without hearing the word politics is as difficult as running a code without error in the first execution.I still remember how I supported a person in a particular issue at the time of its occurrence and had changed my stand after 2 years. So What exactly is politics? To be precise it is not an X or Y party. It is just the things a person or a group does to be better or make themselves the major power. You might have heard words like office politics and all. A lot of my friends wanted to leave India after graduation. The reason was that “In India, everything is in the hands of politicians, they can turn things upside-down in a day. So life here is not stable and the scope for Corporates is less”. Fun fact is that they also admire IIT’s. So the big question is Should I understand national or regional politics? If yes, should I be Politically aware or active?

As a person about to start a career as an engineer, does the politics of this country affect me? Yes. It affects me the same way corona affects maskless adventurers. Supporting a party is not necessary, but understanding what a party supports is. Keeping track of issues and responses to them in our country makes you politically aware, Responding to them makes you politically active. You should be well known about what the government did in 5 years. Your ignorance just makes you a lab rat in the long term as each decision the authorities take directly or indirectly affects you in a good or bad way. I know that most of us don’t even read the election manifestos. The major reason is that our focus during the election is on prime ministerial candidates. In reality, the PM is not elected by us, so we have to concentrate more on our ward’s candidates.

I know, you might be wondering, why am I bothered about this topic even though I don’t have an ID card to vote as I have just become 18? I have great concern about the upcoming youth in India as we don’t seem to be much aware of what is happening right now In our country. Social media has either made people politically ignorant (Tiktok) or politically hyperactive (Twitter). Outrage at things you see is not important, But listening to what they have to say is important. They might be suffering or they might just be outraged for attention. Use your brains to Understand who is politically correct instead of focusing on Youtube vs TikTok. We can make sure that our government supports the working class and the decisions it makes are for the people only if we know what has happened and is happening right now. If you found this a bit serious, Politicians are doing the comedy part leaving me with no other options. Stay alert and be aware.
